What makes jamu so potent & effective?

Let me let you in on a little secret…

Turmeric has an incredibly low bioavailability

Unfortunately, a lot of the turmeric we ingest doesn’t get absorbed into our system, leaving the body (& bank account) deprived and depleted.

When turmeric is manipulated from its natural root form into more convenient forms, such as powders or tinctures, many of the beneficial compounds that allow our bodies to process and use turmeric’s healing components are stripped away.

In other words, most of the turmeric we consume doesn't get absorbed into our cells and it isn’t able to work its magic on our system.

Saucha Jamu is made in a way that enhances the absorption and bioavailability of turmeric’s active ingredient, curcumin, allowing our body to reap all of the benefits Jamu has to offer.

How does jamu accomplish this?

It’s in the root

Many beneficial components of turmeric gets stripped away when manipulating the root into more conveniently used forms, such as: powder, supplements, tinctures, etc. By using the root of both turmeric and ginger, we preserve essential components that help amplify their therapeutic benefits.

Turmeric is hydrophobic, meaning that it keeps its sweet distance from water. It cannot flow through our intestinal wall and into our bodies via liquids. Rather, turmeric is lipophilic, meaning that it can adhere to and move with fat sources. When we consume turmeric in the absence of dietary fat, most of it gets excreted. Lucky for us, nature makes no mistakes. Turmeric root naturally has turmeric oil in it, allowing us to absorb curcumin with ease. Jamu is made with organic turmeric root (and therefore turmeric oil), helping to ensure that absorption is maximized.

Jamu is potent

Saucha Jamu is potent and pure, made with just five ingredients. There is no need for fillers or additives. 2-3oz a day will get the job done.

Jamu is clean

Before brewing Jamu, the turmeric and ginger roots are soaked in 11.5pH Kangen water. This highly alkaline water is able to help emulsify any fat-based pesticide that may remain on your produce. This helps ensure that all ingredients are as pure and effective as possible.

Heat is key

Turmeric root is hydrophobic & lipophilic, meaning it loves to attach itself to fats, but stays far away from water. Heating turmeric increases it's water solubility, meaning you have a greater chance of absorbing it when taking turmeric in the absence of fat! (Because I use full turmeric root, there is still natural turmeric oil in my Jamu, enabling the active compounds to enter into our system at an even greater rate)

Use of Black Pepper

Black pepper plays a critical role in increasing the bioavailability of curcumin, turmeric’s active ingredient. Acting as an adjuvant, a substance added to another substance to positively impact its metabolic reaction, black pepper inhibits the metabolization of curcumin in the liver, allowing it to pass through our system, saturate our muscles, tissues, and cells, and provide us with alllll of its anti-inflammatory magic.

Jamu is made with love

Making Jamu has become a form of meditation for me- a true labor of love.
